Summer Games Qualifiers Competitor Briefing

Competitor Briefing – Rock Over Climbing

The qualifying round will start at 11am and run until 3pm. Scorecards must be handed into
reception by 3pm.

All problems start with 4 marked holds, each limb must be touching one of these in a secure
position before moving to the next hold.

Only holds matching the colour of the start holds may be used.

Volumes and aretes may be used to climb the problem.

Black tape marks any out of bounds areas. The black tape may be touched, but if any area
past the black tape is touched then the attempt will not be valid (although will still ‘count’ as
an attempt) and must be restarted.

The finish hold will also be marked with tape. This must be matched with both hands in a
secure position for it to count.

Any holds can be used to climb down.

Points will be given based on the number of attempts to complete a problem.
10 points if done on the first attempt
7 points on the second
4 points on the third
1 point for every subsequent attempt

Each problem can only be completed once.

There are 25 total qualifiers which will count towards the finals (numbered 11 – 35)

The first 10 problems are ‘Off Piste’ and will only be used for Boulder Bingo. All problems 1 –
35 can count towards Boulder Bingo.

The top 6 Male and top 6 Female finalists will take part in the Finals in the Hub at 4pm.
